Millennium mission of the man who identified Bounty mutineer by Will Rolson
A LIVERPOOL artist, who used Merseyside police technology to create a pic-ture of Mutiny on the Bounty leader Fletcher Christian, has an ambi-tious Millennium project.
Jerry Gordon hit the head-lines worldwide after the ECHO published his ground-breaking identifit.
He produced the likeness - which most resembled recent Fletcher Christian actor Mel Gibson - by gathering por-traits of the mutineer's ances-tors and descendants.
ITN’s News At Ten, news-papers and TV worldwide cla-moured for the computer image and the artist spent six months on Pitcairn Island, where the mutineers settled.
Since the Fletcher Christian re-creation two years ago, Jerry, 40, from Allerton, has em-barked on an ambitious project to paint 40 giant can-vasses to celebrate the year 2000.
Jerry said: “I have sold everything to get the Millennium project going. I am hoping to find a sponsor.”
