These are my own impressions, which are not necessarily
the views of every Unificationist member.
This seminar was, for me, quite a shock. In just two days I found answers to questions which had absorbed me for a long time as well as answers to questions that I hadn't even asked. The explanation of the existence of God and the purpose of Creation was a surprise for me; to hear such topics delivered in a logical way with diagrams so that I could take notes. The atmosphere there also was of people sharing a big secret which gave a special tension to the presentations. Towards the end of the seminar I found out why; because we are living in the 'Last Days' right now with the advent of the Second Coming of the Messiah having already taken place! I was really expecting them to say the Messiah would be coming soon, at some indeterminate time in the future. I couldn't deny their conclusion however and so I was confronted (without being properly prepared for it) with the knowledge that my life from that weekend on was going to be irrevocably changed whether I joined this group or not. |
These were the main points that were
covered in my first seminar of the Unification Principle teaching

The 'Last Days' lecture put the
concept in the right perspective; the last days occur only because history

The seminar was held at a large house in Dunbar, Scotland which is on the road south out of Edinburgh. I had driven there all the way from Glenmavis, near Coatbridge which is the other side of Scotland. Later when I was trying to invite people to come and check this out it was amazing for me that many people didn't want to even though we provided transport. Of course the newspaper articles at that time didn't help as we were depicted as crazy fanatics; but I feel that I was a very normal guy who just stumbled across something really big. I still feel that way. |
