These are my own impressions, which
are not necessarily the views of every Unificationist member.
Hear are some of the main differences between the
Unification Principle teaching of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon from conventional
Christian teachings.

Unification Principle teachings
|
God is like a King sitting on a throne in complete
control of everything; all powerful, all knowing, all present and existing
for eternity. |
God is eternal, unique, unchanging and absolute,
but suffering and broken-hearted because of the 'fall of Man'. |
'Fall of Man' caused by Adam and Eve eating
a fruit which God told them not to eat. |
'Fall of Man' was due to illicit and premature
sexual relationships intimated by their covering of 'lower parts'. |
Fall resulted in God chasing our first ancestors
out of the Garden of Eden because of their disobedience. |
Fall resulted in reversal of dominion: Adam
and Eve created as lord became servant of servant, Lucifer created as servant
became Satan and lord. |
Jesus is like God and was existing with God from the beginning
of Creation. |
Jesus was the first true man fulfilling what Adam failed
to do. |
Jesus' purpose in coming was to die by execution and through
his blood save mankind. |
Jesus came to establish the first true family and engraft
all mankind to a new blood lineage through it. |
The Holy Bible is complete and God's final word. |
The Bible is a textbook teaching the truth. |
Everything is predestined by God because God is all powerful,
all knowing and all present. |
God always fulfils His part of the total responsibility;
mankind, however, has a portion of responsibility which has to be fulfilled. |
The Kingdom of Heaven will magically appear when the Lord
of the Second Advent comes from the clouds for a limited, chosen, number
of people who will be saved. They will rise to meet the Lord in the air. |
The Lord of the Second Advent shows the true way of life
by example and gives rebirth through change of blood lineage. Kingdom of
Heaven is built by those following the Messiah and all of mankind will
be saved. |
Hell was created by God to punish sinners. |
Hell is a by-product of the fall of man. |
Only my church is the correct one. Only the members of my
church will be saved. |
All religions are inspired by God and are destined to be
unified by the new teaching revealed by the Lord of the Second Advent. |
The Lord of the Second Advent will occur by Jesus coming in glory on the clouds. He will come in power and every eye will see him. Even dead and decomposed saints will rise from tombs to meet the Lord in the air. |
The Lord of the Second Advent will be born as Jesus was with a new name. He will first suffer and be rejected before finally being recognised. |
The 'Last Days' will occur as literally stated in the Bible; Sun and Moon darkened, stars falling from Heaven, elements consumed with fire. |
The Last Days are the end of cosmic winter and beginning of cosmic spring. End of the world denotes change of sovereignty. |
The 'Trinity': there is no clear teaching on this as it is considered to be too mysterious. |
The original trinity was to have been God, Adam and Eve but the fallen trinity of Satan, Adam and Eve resulted from the fall. The spiritual Holy Trinity was formed by God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The final trinity will be formed by God, the Lord of Second Advent and his bride. All mankind can be reborn from this trinity. |
The main cause of denominational divisions lies in how the Bible is interpreted, as it renders important parts of the truth in symbols and parables. These divisions between denominations can only grow more numerous and intractable unless a new truth can emerge which elucidates the essential truths of the Bible. This is why Jesus promised that in the Last Days he would give us the new Word of truth.
