Why we believe in the Rev. and Mrs. Moon as True Parents
back to: home page
These are my own impressions, which are not necessarily the views of every Unificationist member.

There are several reasons why I believe that the Rev. and Mrs. Moon are really the True Parents of mankind. The Unification Principle teaching, the lifestyle of the Rev. and Mrs. Moon, and the projects which they have initiated or inspired.

The main one, for me, is the teaching of the Rev. Moon. I really have not found a better explanation for the human condition, or a better explanation of why God appears to be powerless to do anything about it; either at the time of the "Fall of Man" or at any other key points in history. The teaching unlocks the secrets contained within the Bible (and other holy books) as to the process by which God has been working to lift mankind back to the original, unfallen, state.

It was a surprise for me to realise that there was a connection between love, freedom and responsibility. There is no freedom without responsibility and there cannot exist love without freedom.

The 'Principle' gives precise explanations concerning the following points and clearly delineates between passages that are expressed symbolically from those that are accounts of what will, or did, happen.

Why God, who is omnipotent and omniscient, did not prevent the 'Fall of Man'.

Explains the significance of the reversal of positions of the 1st son and 2nd son as the foundation for the chosen nation and the birth of the Messiah.

Clarifies why God could accept the actions of King David with Bathsheba; Tamar who had sexual relations with her father-in-law and similar actions intimated at within the Bible.

The family unit is the 'school of love' and this is why fidelity within marriage and sexual purity before marriage are so important. The family is the foundation for an ideal society, nation and world.

That John-the-Baptist, far from being a saint, was a dismal failure and the main 'stumbling block' forcing Jesus to go the secondary course of the cross rather than the primary course of establishing the first ideal (model) family.

Why Jesus had to be born on the earth (not literally coming from the sky) and why the Lord of the Second Advent must also come in this way.

The parallels between the national course of Moses and the world-wide course of Jesus which in turn were established on the foundation of Jacob's victorious family-level course.

The startling parallels between the history of the then 'chosen people' from the time of Abraham until Jesus with the history of Christianity from Jesus until the time of the re-appearance of the Messiah.

The lessons that could be learned from the first coming of the Messiah, who was Jesus, as being vitally important for us today struggling to find, believe in and follow the Lord of the Second Advent.
To put it another way, the then chosen people lost their qualification and this was taken over by what is now known as Christianity. Christians of today should take Jesus' warnings (Luke 17:25,26 etc.), concerning the Second Coming, seriously to avoid making a similar mistake.

There are many points that I would like to discuss with you. I believe that this is worthwhile because the issues are so important for each and every one of us.
